In his younger days, John was an avid hockey player and many people would say he was one of the best goal tenders in the valley. He was well-known throughout the valley as a painter and dry-wall installer and had been employed with Chesley Davidson and Son, from where he retired. John was a veteran of the Second World War. When My mom got sick my Dad took care of my mom. We will never know what he must have been going through.Even when his pain was worse then hers he never complained. I remember when my son Vince was doing a project on the then and now of kentville, He went and talked to Dad and I loved hearing his stories. The good old days he would say. I still have that project,He got a 100 on it. Dad talked about when he was in the war and the way things were, the way the town looked compared to now. Was really nice to just sit and listen to him talk. remember when he was telling the story of when TV's first came out and he got one, funny, things we take for granted, he was so excited when he talked about it. My Dad loved hockey and he enjoyed going and watching his grandsons play hockey,I remember the year Both my boys were on the same high school hockey team, dad just thought that was so great. He was very proud of his family and I know I am very proud I had him for a dad.
